Friday's agenda:
* Policy Committee report (Laurel, Egon and Margot)
Recommendations to be submitted to ABAG and MTC. In May, we talked
about presenting our proposals in the fall.
* Regional agencies
report (Bruce) As the Roundtable's liaison to ABAG and MTC, Bruce
will update us on the agencies' activity relating to the Priority
Development Areas project, the ABAG Fall General Assembly
(jobs/employment theme?), the RTP 2035 and other Bay Area-wide
initiatives.
* Roundtable's South Bay forum in the fall (Zelda) We
need to refine and finalize the forum's theme so we can move forward in
planning this event, including looking for financial support.

Henry Gardner, ABAG Executive Director opened the meeting
and Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums welcomed the attendees.
The City of Los Angeles Planning Director, Gail Goldberg,
the featured speaker, discussed the Industrial Land Use
Policy report recently issued by her bureau and the Los
Angeles Community Redevelopment Agency. The report
recommends retaining industry in selected parts of downtown
LA. Zelda Bronstein, Coordinator, of the Bay Area
Business Roundtable introduced the panelists: Linda Hausrath,
Economist, Hausrath Economics Group ( click
here for her presentation); Laurel Prevetti, Assistant
Planning Director, City of San Jose ( click
here for her presentation); Mary Lou Van Deventer,
President, Northern California Recycling Association ( click
here for her presentation); and Ken Kirkey, Planning
Director, ABAG. Ted Droettboom, Regional Planning
Director, Joint Policy Committee provided a summary and led
the discussion of future directions to be pursued.
